Although currently dubbed the Sony Ericsson MT15i Vivaz 2, the handset’s Xperia branding suggests that it could launch under a different appearance.

According to blogger Eldar Murtazin, the Gingerbread-equipped handset will be packed with a similar display to the BRAVIA display of the Xperia Arc, measuring in at 854 x 480 pixels, the maximum resolution available on Android handsets. Unlike it’s X10 siblings, it will also arrive supporting multi-touch, and will be dressed with Sony Ericsson‘s MediaScape UI.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz 2 will also feature a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 512MB RAM, an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and 720p video capture, a front-facing webcam, USB connectivity, Wi-Fi, a 1500mAh battery and 300MB of internal storage with microSD expansion.

The first pictures of the Palm-powered tablet have emerged courtesy of a tipster. The first is codenamed Topaz and will be the 9-inch variation, while the Opal will be its 7-inch little brother.

As you can see, HP also sees the tablet market as slightly segmented between those that want the larger-screened experience, and those that want to be able to hold a tablet easily in one hand.

Both will be running a single-core 1.2GHz processor, according to sources tipster, will be shipping to Palm in June ready for a launch later this year.

Normally this would mean a Q3 release date, and it may well be for the US – but given Palm’s relative mystery these days in the UK, don’t be surprised if these don’t land until 2012 by which time the likes of Motorola and Apple could be on their second and third tablet iterations.

Either way, we’re highly scheme to see what this new announcement will be – especially as we’re expecting an iPad 2 to surface in the next few months.

Dell has gone ahead and slashed the price of its Dell Streak Android tablet, by a whopping $180 ahead of the flurry of new tablets expected to hit the market next month.

Dell Streak price slashed

Now available for $399, the 5-inch Dell Streak tablet which comes with Android 2.2 Froyo preloaded, is available for order now but won’t ship until January.

With the Motorola XOOM Android Honeycomb tablet predicted to entrance at CES 2011, beside other tablets like the BlackBerry Playbook, Acer and possibly an iPad 2 later next year, this may be the last time the Dell Streak can make an attempt to increase sales.

With a Dell Streak 2 also expected to debut in a couple of months we wouldn’t be taken aback if this tablet is in for more price fall next year.

Nokia released a C6 smart phone earlier this year, but this edition, renowned only by that 01 suffix, is in fact very different.

It’s smaller and lighter, mainly due to fact that it doesn’t have the original’s slide-out QWERTY keyboard, but it also has a better camera and the latest Symbian 3 operating system.

The 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen looks, frankly, stunning, especially when viewing video, and does a good job of showing itself off even in bright light. Email accounts are easy to set-up, though the onscreen keyboard is a little cramped for comfort, even in landscape QWERTY mode. Additional apps are available from Nokia’s Ovi Store which is growing slowly but steadily, though it’s still far behind its Apple and Android rivals.

The three home pages are laid out in a network system and can be populated with all sorts of shortcuts and widgets. It’s not as clear-cut as Windows Phone 7 or iOS, nor is it as pretty as Android can be, but it’s functional and effective once you get used to it.

The Symbian browser now supports Flash but the look hasn’t been improved in this edition. It comes with a 2GB microSD memory card and you can bump that up to 32GB. Battery life held up fairly well, giving us 2 days of prolonged use.

Conclusion

Nokia seems to have settled into a bit of rut, producing well-mannered, reliable, workmanlike handset which gets their different work. It is still clunky and hazy, and several steps behind its rivals.

The Nokia N8 leads the way in lots of areas, not least for its Symbian ^3 operating system. It seems like a Chinese company has other ideas, however, with a handset that looks distrustfully like the N8, boasting an operating system that looks warily like iOS!

Actually, we like the new Symbian ^3 operating system, and it’s certainly a lot resourceful than its rival. We had to look twice when we saw the handset in the video below, however, as at first glance it looks like somebody has installed iOS on Nokia’s finest.

The handset is actually a cheap knock off lacking both the Nokia N8′s anodized aluminum casing, backlit menu button, and indeed internal hardware – including the class-leading 12-Megapixel Carl Zeiss camera.

While the company has done a good job of replicating the Nokia N8′s design, the plastic finish and cheap looking buttons can’t hold a candle to the real thing.

It looks like the company has done a good job of copying the iOS operating system, however, although it lacks the variability of the Nokia N8′s genuine OS. It will also lack access to Nokia’s Ovi Store, with games such as Angry Birds remaining firmly out of reach.

As expected, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 is now available in white on Rogers. That’ll pair up nicely with the white Bold 9780 that Rogers will be launching in good time. Bell will have a red 9800 if you’re not digging the white. There are no white outside of Rogers by the looks of it.

It has a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera with flash, 624 MHz processor, and 512 MB of RAM. It runs RIM’s new operating system that includes universal search from the home screen, a Webkit browser, and a bunch of UI enhancements.

Maybe, but some people really dig the white smartphones. The device’s performance, or head on over to Rogers’ online store to pick one up. They jacked up the price from $199 to $229 on contract for some reason.

Sony Ericsson has been lately coming out with a different type of names (Aino, Satio, Idou etc.), even though the simpler alternative name comes as the next number in the series of the product. But you can look at it as the next Xperia model, i.e. X12. This was leaked yesterday, and the design is claimed to be almost similar to the Droid X, having a big display of 4.3 and porting a HDMI output. Leaving the design aside, this would be the first Xperia model which would cross the bars of Android 2.1 and is supposedly coming in with Android 2.3 i.e. Gingerbread. As Gingerbread’s estimated release date is 1st quarter of 2011, the Sony Ericsson Anzu is rumored to be out during or after that phase. Just as a side note, Sony doesn’t have the best record when dealing with Android updates for their Xperia phones.

The phone is sleek, large but very thin giving a “Samsung Galaxy S meets Droid X” kind of looks, with a camera that can record videos with 1080 resolution, and an included HDMI port. The leaked pics do suggest it has good tough metal finish and a front-facing camera, but there is no news whether Sony has finally brought in the multi-touch or not.

Having such big display and a 5-megapixel, the 1080p recording surely would produce a video with excellent quality, and it is said that the sound output of X12 is far better and clear than the X10 model.

The Sony Ericsson phone might launch is 1st or 2nd quarter of 2011, and this would be a tough entry for other competitors who have their eyes focused on the gingerbread launch to release their products with it.

Samsung and Giorgio Armani are making another go at creating a designer cell phone, reports. Like their original collaboration, the Samsung Armani, the new handset will offer a touch screen and multimedia features, but it will ditch Windows Mobile 6.5, Armani’s operating system of choice on last year’s Samsung smartphone, in favor of Android. Say goodbye also to the full keyboard and tilting design.

Though the new model is part of the Galaxy S series. it’s a dead ringer for AT&T’s Captivate–we weren’t expecting it to be so understated. With the black color and small Armani logo, it lacks some of the gold add-ons found on its predecessors.

The feature set, on the other hand, isn’t surprising. Inside you’ll find the standard Galaxy S offerings including a 5-megapixel camera, a multimedia player, e-mail, a 1 GHz processor, and 16GB of internal memory. And, of course, the 4-inch display is super-AMOLED. We don’t know which version of Android it will run, but Eclair (2.1) is the most likely candidate.
