LG to Release Budget Friendly HD Phone

Tuesday March 09, 2010

HD is the big thing these days. While we are still not sure if the big push in 2012 will actually happen (SD broadcasts will stop in order to pave the way for HD-quality TV), we do know that HD quality video recording has now become the next big thing with mobile phones.

While other may have been busy counting the mega pixels for digital cameras, others have been keener on mobile phone’s abilities to shoot and record videos in high quality. Recent reports show devices with HD video capabilities do matter to people –particularly those who love to share and upload files into the net.

In any case, LG is now going to be releasing a brand new smart phone rumored to be capable of shooting and recording HD quality videos (720p) and still be budget friendly.

The new phone is named Viewty GT400 and this touch screen smart phone will come with a 5 mega pixel camera and a 3 inch touch screen. LG has not given new specs for the device but if this does come in at the reported £100 mark, you can count on plenty of people lining up to get this phone.

This new device is a change of pace from LG’s GW900 and the upcoming Apollo. Recently all we have been seeing from LG are high end devices with dual core processors and what not. Though touch screen smart phones will always be more expensive than GSM models, LG has been tinkering around with really high end specs that make us wonder if they would ever bring out a budget device for 2010 –thankfully, it looks like they will. Expect to see more of the Viewty within the coming months.
